Espresso Bourbon Flip cocktail.

Espresso Bourbon Flip

A rich after-dinner cocktail with bourbon, espresso, spice, and a velvety finish. It sits somewhere between dessert, nightcap, and cocktail ritual.

Espresso Bourbon Flip Recipe

Built around bourbon, this Whiskey Scene cocktail is designed for a polished home bar pour with clear structure, seasonal character, and a finish that still lets the whiskey lead.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz chilled espresso
  • 1/2 oz demerara syrup
  • 1 whole egg
  • Freshly grated nutmeg, for garnish

Method

  1. Add bourbon, espresso, syrup, and egg to a shaker without ice.
  2. Dry shake vigorously.
  3. Add ice and shake again until chilled and frothy.
  4. Fine strain into a coupe.
  5. Garnish with nutmeg.

Tasting Note

Espresso gives the flip depth and bitterness while bourbon and egg create a velvety nightcap texture.

Serving Note

Serve immediately while the foam is fresh.
