Minted Peach Julep No. 9 is a warm-weather bourbon cocktail built around ripe peach, fresh mint, and the slow chill of crushed ice. It keeps the Southern ease of a classic julep, but softens the edges with orchard fruit and a little extra freshness. The result is fragrant, polished, and made for long afternoons, porch glasses, and slow sipping.
Minted Peach Julep No. 9
A peach-bright bourbon julep with fresh mint, crushed ice, and a soft orchard finish.
Ingredients
- 2 oz bourbon
- 1/2 oz peach syrup or peach nectar
- 1/4 oz simple syrup, optional if the peach is very ripe or sweet
- 8 to 10 fresh mint leaves
- Crushed ice
- Fresh peach slice and mint sprig, for garnish
Method
- Gently press the mint leaves with peach syrup in the bottom of the glass.
- Add bourbon and fill the glass halfway with crushed ice.
- Stir until the outside of the glass begins to frost.
- Mound with more crushed ice and garnish with peach and mint.
Whiskey Scene Notes
Choose a bourbon with caramel, vanilla, and gentle oak rather than heavy spice. A softer wheated bourbon works especially well here because it lets the peach and mint stay lifted without losing the whiskey at the center of the drink.
